Today, interactive user-oriented narrative is overtaking story structures traditionally linked to linear time based narrative. Unlike time-based media, which are often single-authored, and presented to its audience, digital space based narrative evolves through user motivated use of the media affordances in different contexts. The user, unlike the audience, co-creates the story while playing it, but also helps in reshaping the media.

The International Journal of Film and Media Arts Volume: 1, Number: 2 (2016) is now available online.

The second number of the International Journal of Film and Media Arts is dedicated to stereoscopic and immersive media. This issue has contributions from researchers, scholars and archivists working on visual media renowned for their stereoscopic and immersive features.

The papers in this issue keenly reflect a diversity of approaches that contribute to a critical understanding of stereo and immersive media today in the broad context of haptic and visual media cultures, with topics ranging from immersive pre-cinematic media, and scientific stereoscopic practices, to spatial and cultural aspects of virtual travel.

A International Journal of Film and Media Arts é uma publicação semestral, em língua inglesa e portuguesa, promovida pelo Centro de Investigação em Comunicação Aplicada, Cultura e Novas Tecnologias (CICANT) e pelo Departamento de Cinema e Artes do Media (DCAM) da ECATI/ULHT – Escola de Comunicação e Artes da Universidade Lusófona.

A IJFMA abre um novo espaço de reflexão sobre os temas da arte dos media e do cinema, nomeadamente da animação, televisão, videojogos e diversas artes dos media, bem como das suas expressões e materializações culturais e sociais, com especial atenção à produção lusófona.

About

In_NovaMusEUm project aims to strengthen the capacity to attract new audiences of European museums located in peripheral areas, through activities of audience development related to Art&Food, valorization of museum artworks collections and local cultural heritage.

Objectives:

  • To create and test a new shared methodology of audience development related to Art&Food for EU peripheral museums;
  • To reinforce audience development skills of EU peripheral museums’ responsibles;
  • To increase local community’s feeling of belonging to peripheral museums through art and food, boosting new confidence and ideas;
  • To create new forms of artistic cooperation between EU peripheral museums’responsibles and local emerging artists;
  • Implementation of one shared strategy of audience development related to Art&Food, for EU peripheral museums.
