CICANT’s researcher selected by council of Europe
We are pleased to announced that Maria José Brites, Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona do Porto , Portuguese coordinator of the European Media in Action project and Cicant’s researcher, was selected by the Council of Europe to work as consultant in the field of Digital Citizenship Education .
At this mounth our researcher will be at the Tel-Aviv University (14-15th May) to participate in an workshop on “Fake news and beyond” and will give a talk on “Improving critical reading of the world: From European Regulation to National Education Programs”and also will attend the ICA Conference (24-28 May) with a paper on Youth, News and Civic Life in Portugal, in the panel on Young People, News, and Politics, organized by Lynn Schofield Clark (University of Denver)
Between 2013 and 2014 she was coordinator of RadioActive Europe project in Portugal (531245-LLP-1-2012-1-UK-KA3-KA3).
Research interests include areas such as youth studies, journalism and participation, audience studies, news literacy, and civic literacy.
Maria José Brites completed her post-doc at the Universidade Minho (2014-2017), with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
