Luis Barbosa has served as lead advisor for government agencies and several business corporations. With an industrial background, he has held senior executive management positions at corporate level. He has professional global experience and has lived in Europe, Central and South America, as well as in the United States, Middle East and Africa working for Ford and Volkswagen. As CEO, he has managed +5000 people. With over 20 years of international experience, Luis is an expert in Strategy, Business Development and Turnaround Projects backed up by private equities. Known as an agile negotiator with diplomatic skills he has built a global network of stakeholders.
Currently, he’s leading a digital transformation and innovation project for a major fashion sportswear producer in Southeast Asia.
Luis Barbosa comes from Portugal, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Coimbra University, one of the oldest universities in the world, holds an MBA, among other academic degrees. He is INSEAD alumnus and an invited Lecturer in Master Degree Programs in the most prominent Portuguese business schools. As well, he is a Member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council and Member of the Jury of the European Innovation Council.
He's PhD researcher in Studies in Communication for Development building his thesis on the highly innovative theme of “Nature Citizenship and Digital Communication Networks”.
He lives between Europe, the UAE and Asia. He’s passionate about astronomy, photography, sports, oenology and gastronomy.
He is highly committed with CSR and CSV projects, as well as Humanitarian Aid. As a United Nations and European Union Observer, he has been in the field and face-to-face with the urgent needs of suffering communities. Luis strongly believes that the new era of digitalization will help to create innovative solutions to bring more efficient and fastest aid to those in need. He is pro bono consultant of Rowad Foundation, headquartered in Sanaa, Yemen.
