Juliana Santos is currently attending a Ph.D. in Communication and Activism at the Universidade Lusófona do Porto. She has a Master's degree in Contemporary Culture Studies from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (2020). She holds a BA in Social Communication, with a major in Journalism from the Federal University of Mato Grosso - Araguaia Campus (2017). 

Throughout her master's degree, she participated in the Multimundos Research Group and presented and published works such as: "Junho de 2013 e as Franjas da Reverberação de um Acontecimento". In Comunicação, cultura e o outro. Cadernos multimundos - Volume II, edited by Cristóvão Domingos de Almeida; Naine Terena de Jesus; Rita de Cássia Domingues dos Santos, 150-169. BAGÉ, Brasil: Faith, 2021. "Protagonismo Juvenil - dos meios tradicionais às novas mídias". MISSÕES: REVISTA DE CIÊNCIAS HUMANAS E SOCIAIS 4 (2019): 184-197; “Mídia Ninja, MBL e Black Blocs: Análise Comparativa da Performance e dos Valores Postos em Cena a partir do acontecimento Junho de 2013", a paper presented at the 42º Congresso Brasileiro de Ciências da Comunicação, BELÉM, 2019. She also has an abstract accepted for presentation at the XII SOPCOM Congress, LISBON, 2022.

During her graduation, Juliana participated in scientific initiation groups for three years, presenting papers in national and regional congresses such as: "JORNALISMO E VIOLÊNCIA: a representação do adolescente em conflito com a Lei no jornal O Globo", a paper presented at the 7º Encontro Nacional de Jovens Pesquisadores em Jornalismo, São Paulo, 2017. "A perspectiva de Veja sobre a Redução da Maioridade Penal numa Análise Narrativa", a paper presented at the XVIII Congresso de Ciências da Comunicação na Região Centro-Oeste, GOIANIA, 2016, presented at the V Encontro Nacional de Jovens Pesquisadores em Jornalismo, CAMPO GRANDE, 2015.

She also participated in the organization of the events "IV SEMANA CIENTÍFICA DO CAMPUS UNIVERSITÁRIO DO ARAGUAIA" and "III Jornada de Ciência e Tecnologia do IFMT" as a member of the organizing team. Currently, Juliana's work is linked to the Research Center in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies (CICANT), which results from the joint effort of researchers from Lusofona University.
