Stella Carneiro is a Brazilian film director, writer and visual artist from Recife, Pernambuco who has worked on over thirty short-films, a few Brazilian features and television series for some of Brazil’s biggest film production companies such as Gullane, Paris Entertainment, TV Globo and REC Produtores. Stella has a degree in Film and Communication from FAAP/São Paulo, an M.A in Screenwriting through the Erasmus program Kino Eyes - The European Fiction Masters and is currently a PhD student at FilmEU in Universidade Lusófona, tutored by Inês Gil.

Stella’s last few years were spent as an assistant screenwriter for the 2nd season of the television series Jailers, as well as alongside director Marcelo Gomes’ for his film Joaquim, which premiered at Berlinale. Recently, a feature-film screenplay written by her was awarded Honorable Mention in the most prestigious screenplay festival in Latin America, FRAPA, located in Porto Alegre, while her short-films have been selected to the Baltic Pitching Forum 2020, the Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) and the Brussels Short Film Festival. Stella was also part of the Official Jury of the 14th Festa do Cinema Italiano in Lisbon.
