FEMglocal joins the 5th Porto Femme International Film Festival
The FEMglocal project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and coordinated by the researchers Carla Cerqueira and Célia Taborda, partnered with the 5th edition of Porto Femme International Film Festival, held between September 12 and 17, 2022. On September 15, the screening of the documentary feature film “Choices/Voices”, by Sara Marie Dutche and Melanie Sien Min Lyn, was the motto for a conversation on “Bodies” moderated by Carla Cerqueira, principal investigator of the research project, and with the participation of the directors, as well as Patrícia Nogueira (director, professor at University Beira Interior), Patrícia Sequeira Brás (integrated CICANT researcher) and Salomé Lopes Coelho (Post-Doc researcher at ICNOVA - FCSH). On September 16, the video installation “UKRAINE [NE]POKIRNA. TRILOGY”, by Valeriya Golovina, led to a conversation with the director moderated by Ana Sofia Pereira, Post-Doc fellow of the FEMglocal project, on the film and the difficulties of working in the Ukraine. On September 17, after the screening of the short films “In the silence of an abyssal sea” (by Juliette Klinke) and “She’s the protagonist” (by Sarah Carlot Jabe), Ana Sofia Pereira moderated a conversation on the representation of women in cinema with MUTIM founders Paula Miranda (video editor) and Fernanda Polacow (screenwriter). Carla Cerqueira was also one of the jury members for the Women’s Struggles and Rights Award.
