Lurdes Macedo speaker at Seminar Debates on Lusophony - Development and Co-operation
Lurdes Macedo was one of the invited keynotes for the Seminar Debates da Lusofonia which took place at UCCLA (Union of Portuguese-speaking Capital Cities [União das Cidades Capitais de Língua Portuguesa]), in Lisbon, on the 21st June. This was the 6th session of the Permanent Forum Debates on Lusophony, with the theme "Development and Co-operation".Lurdes Macedo's intervention was entitled "From development to Afrotopos: cooperating in the spaces of the possible for a coming Africa" ["Do desenvolvimento ao Afrotopos: cooperar nos espaços do possível para uma África vindoura"] and aimed to problematise development cooperation with PALOP from the perspective of Communication for Development and Social Change, focusing on the proposal of alternatives to the Western development model. In this session, the academics Maria das Neves, José Leitão and António Sampaio da Nóvoa also participated as guest speakers.
