Mutual Capacity Building Action "Voices in Dialogue"

The Network Voices project organises, on 28 and 29 September, a capacity building action for professionals in the field of development, gender equality, students and researchers interested in development, gender and diversity issues and activists in the areas of gender and diversity.

The action stems from the research results of the project "Voices in the network: women's participation in development processes" and aims to provide knowledge applicable to different contexts of intervention in the area of development.

About this event

The Mutual Capacity Building Action "Voices in Dialogue" has as its central objective the creation of a space for discussion on some of the main challenges facing women participating in the sphere of local development in Portugal. Based on the assumption of mutual empowerment between trainers and trainees, this action builds on the research results of the project "Network voices: Women's participation in development processes in Portugal" to jointly reflect on issues such as reconciling professional, family and personal life; the specificities of work in an area where gender asymmetries persist at various levels; or the gaps between public policies and practices in the area of gender equality, namely in Portugal. 

Throughout the sessions, methodologies will be used to encourage the active participation of all and the acquisition of knowledge applicable in their contexts of intervention as professionals in the field of development. 

Objectives

  • To contribute to the deepening of knowledge in the area of gender equality applied to local development;
  • Foster critical thinking around issues of equality, equity and diversity;
  • Provide participants with tools to improve personal and professional practices in the area of gender equality.
