On Friday 22nd September, at 6pm, at the University of Minho's Paço Gallery, the session "No Trilho de Malangatana - Conversation about a legacy for the world" will be held. The session will be held simultaneously with the Matalana Cultural Centre in Maputo.
Following the interventions of the Director of the Virtual Museum of Lusophony, Isabel Macedo, and art historian Alda Costa, an English subtitled version of the documentary "On the trail of Malangatana: from legacy to memory" will be screened.
The conversation about Malangatana's legacy, moderated by Rosa Cabecinhas, will continue with speeches by the documentary's director and researcher at CICANT and CECS, Lurdes Macedo, as well as the President of the Malangatana Valente Ngwenia Foundation, Mutxhini Malangatana Ngwenia, followed by comments from the researcher Sheila Khan.
The final speech will be given by Moisés de Lemos Martins, a researcher at CICANT and CECS, and former director of the Virtual Museum of Lusophony.
Admission is free and online participation is also possible.
The session is organised by the Virtual Museum of Lusophony in partnership with UMinho's House of Knowledge, Lusófona University/ CICANT, the Matalana Cultural Centre and the Communication and Diversity Seminar. It also has the support of the MoMo Gallery in Johannesburg.
