FEMglocal’s PI at the “Media education against digital gender violence” seminar

On November 14th, Carla Cerqueira, the principal investigator of the FEMglocal - Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions research project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through national funds (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021 / DOI 10.54499/PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021), was invited to participate in the seminar “Media education against digital gender violence” organized by the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) of the University of Minho and the University of Valladolid (UVa) in Spain. In her presentation titled “#MeToo y Ativismo Feminista Digital en Portugal” (“#MeToo and Digital Feminist Activism in Portugal”), Carla Cerqueira delved into the rising prominence of #MeToo and other forms of digital activism in Portugal, highlighting the unique aspects of this context. The seminar, covering topics such as the limited presence of feminist digital activism in Portugal, the promotion of media literacy among young people, and sexism found in digital design, provided a comprehensive platform for discussing emerging issues related to media and digital education, aiming to promote gender equality and combat digital violence.
