On April 20th, researcher Ana Filipa Oliveira and master's student and research fellow Margarida Maneta conducted a workshop on news production and community media outlets as part of Braga ‘25 - Portuguese Capital of Culture.
The activity was organized within the project Fora do Comum (Democracia do Bem Comum) and involved a group of 20 young people from the city of Braga. Entitled "Liberta as tuas ideias" (Free your Ideas), this session aimed to kick-start the development of a community newspaper created and run by the city's young people.
During the workshop Ana Filipa Oliveira and Margarida Maneta addressed issues of journalistic production, ethics, diversity and representation in the media, and contributed to the design of the project plan that will underpin the development of this new community media outlet.
The workshop was organized at the invitation of the CoolPolitics association, which coordinates the Fora do Comum/ Democracia do Bem Comum project.
