The 2nd Edition of the cycle "Between Cultures: Arts, Artists, and Intellectuals between Portugal and Mozambique" begins this Saturday. Organised by CICANT and Lusófona University, through researchers Lurdes Macedo, Vanessa Ribeiro-Rodrigues, together with Nuno Bessa Moreira, this edition continues to explore intercultural relations between the two countries, both past and present. The meetings will once again take place at Livraria do Gato Vadio, a key partner in the event.
New to this edition are special collaborations, including CITCEM and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP), which will participate in the first session. This session will focus on Camões, considered one of the first intellectuals to establish a lasting intercultural connection between Portugal and Mozambique. Zulmira Santos, a renowned scholar of Camões from FLUP, will lead the discussion on "Camões in Mozambique Island."
The 2nd Edition of these meetings will continue until May 2025, with monthly sessions. As for future events, November's session will celebrate the centenary of Bertina Lopes, a pioneer of modern art in Mozambique.
This series offers a valuable platform to reflect on the rich cultural and intellectual exchanges between the two nations.
