"What does local news use have to do with raising children?" is the theme of December's YouNDigital webinar. The initiative will take place online via the Zoom platform on 2 December at 3pm (WEST). The guest, Ranjana Das, is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Surrey (UK). Her research centres on the intersections of sociology and media and communication studies, with a focus on audiences, uses of technology and user cultures.
She is the coordinator of two funded research projects: "Parents', news use, risks and crises in datafied societies" and "Linguistic minority families, emerging technologies, and the raising of bilingual children". His new book, Parents Talking Algorithms Navigating Datafication and Family Life in Digital Societies, will be released later this year by Bristol University Press.
This session is part of a cycle of webinars promoted by the YouNDigital project which aims to promote debate centred on young people's relationship with news and digital citizenship: its specificities, emerging issues, methodological approaches, new perspectives and outlooks. Previous webinars can be (re)viewed on the project's playlist.
