ClimAID Street Art Festival in Portugal

The ClimAID Street Art Festival in Portugal involved around 100 students and teachers/researchers from Lusófona University/CICANT on 11 and 12 December, in partnership with the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum and Torres Vedras City Council.

Raising awareness on climate change and its impact on cultural heritage was one of the main objectives of this event, which is part of the ClimAID project funded by the Creative Europe programme. The organisers and collaborators of this initiative include professors Célia Quico, Inês Marques, José Carlos Neves, João Alves, Pedro Sousa, Cândida Rocha and Carla Sousa, who involved students from the undergraduate courses in Visual Arts, Communication Sciences and Sound Sciences and Technologies, and a master's degree in Visual Arts Education.

The two days of this festival took place at the Lusófona University, the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum and the Azenha da Ponte do Ameal, the latter located in the municipality of Torres Vedras. Among the various activities of this event, a special mention to the demonstration of the ClimAID Sound Mural, the demonstration of the virtual reality application ClimAID VR and the exhibition of artist books by students of the undergraduate course Visual Arts and the master's degree in Visual Arts Education. On the second day of the event, sculptor and ceramist Sandra Casa and artisan Cláudia Borges also collaborated, who held ceramics and bread portrait workshops at the Azenha da Ponte do Ameal for students of the Lusófona University and other participants, such as veterans of the Ramalhal Senior Club.
