YouNDigital publishes e-book about Ethics in research with children and young people

The book ‘LET'S TALK ABOUT ETHICS IN RESEARCH WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE? - What nobody shared online... until now’ is available now for reading. Edited by researchers Teresa Sofia Castro (Lusófona University, CICANT), Maria João Leote de Carvalho (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas - Centro Interdisciplinar de Ciências Sociais (CICS.NOVA), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) and Maria José Brites (Lusófona University, CICANT), the book is the result of the Podcast Cycle produced as part of the YouNDigital - Youth, News and Digital Citizenship (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021) project.

With this e-book, the authors of these two productions have tried to ensure that the chapters do not merely correspond to the full transcript of each conversation, but rather that they are systematising texts of the main issues discussed with each guest researcher.

It thus presents a compilation of theoretical-empirical visions, methodological and ethical perspectives shared by twelve researchers: Annamária Neag, Carla Sousa, Chikezie E. Uzuegbunam, Daniela Jaramillo-Dent, Denise Mensonides, Eckart Müller-Bachmann, Elisabeth Staksrud, Ellen Middaugh, John Magnus Dahl, Ricardo Campos, Vera Duarte and Vítor Sérgio Ferreira. This publication crosses several scientific areas, from communication sciences to sociology, anthropology and psychology, eight countries and three continents. The book consistently emphasizes the rights of children and young people, alongside the importance of conducting ethical research—an ethics that is context-sensitive, adaptable, and mindful of the evolving dynamics between researchers and participants.

The book is available in open access for reading here: https://edicoes.ulusofona.pt/catalogo/ciencias-da-educacao/vamos-falar-sobre-etica-na-investigacao-com-criancas-e-jovens
