CICANT Researchers presented “Climate Theatre and Ecodramaturgy in the Anthropocene” at FOLIO Festival

The book Climate Theatre and Ecodramaturgy in the Anthropocene was launched on 19 October 2025 at the FOLIO – International Literary Festival of Óbidos, in the Casa de Chocolate debate room. Edited by Graça P. Corrêa and Alexander Matthias Gerner (ECATI, CICANT, Lusófona University) and published by Caleidoscópio, the event engaged with this year’s festival theme, “Fronteiras”, exploring the intersections between art, science, and ecological awareness.

The session brought together the editors and contributors Cláudia Madeira, Raquel Rodrigues, Rui Pina Coelho, and Soledad Figueroa Rodriguez, who discussed the relationship between theatre, ecodramaturgy, and climate action.

The publication highlights CICANT’s contributions, with Alexander Gerner authoring “Scenes from the Climate Theatre”, which reflects on performative approaches to the ecological crisis, and João Marques Carilho contributing “Cry of this Earth”, exploring the connection between climate change and the Earth’s acoustic environment.

With 222 pages (ISBN: 9789896589097), the book gathers international contributions from artists, philosophers, and scientists, offering a key reference for understanding the role of the performing arts in addressing the climate emergency.
