ASAP project releases Emergency practices

Schools across Europe now have access to a comprehensive framework for addressing cyberbullying and digital conflicts through the ASAP Emergency Practices, developed as part of the Erasmus+ project focused on social media education for preadolescents.

The guidelines offer a structured approach to help educators prevent, recognise, and respond to both online and offline incidents affecting student wellbeing, moving beyond traditional policy documents to provide hands-on, adaptable procedures.

The resource includes a Quick Operational Guide that walks teachers and school leaders through crisis response, from identifying incident severity to coordinating with families and external services. What sets this approach apart is its emphasis on turning emergencies into educational moments. Rather than focusing solely on punishment, the ASAP model encourages reflection on empathy, responsibility, and the impact of both digital and real-world behaviours.

The Emergency Practices are designed for entire school communities—teachers, administrators, counsellors, and families—creating a shared language and coordinated response system to ensure no one faces these challenges alone.

The guidelines are available in open access for download and can be adapted to any school or national context, forming part of a broader educational program that includes learning units on emotions, communication, and digital awareness. Soon, the Emergency practices will be available in several languages, including Portuguese, Italian, Czech and Croatian.
