The MonsterLab game, developed under the CICANT and HEI-LAB project GameIn (FCT 2022.07939.PTDC), received the award for Best Game Demo at the 15th International Conference on Videogame Sciences and Arts (Videojogos 2025).
Organized by the Portuguese Society for Videogame Sciences and IPMaia – Polytechnic Institute of Maia, the conference brought together leading researchers and practitioners in the field of game studies and game development.
GameIn is an interdisciplinary research project dedicated to exploring how digital games can foster the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. MonsterLab is one of its key outputs and was co-created with users from APPACDM Lisboa (Ajuda) and CECD Mira Sintra, whose participation and insights were fundamental to its design and development.
We extend our appreciation to João Freire and Pedro Gouveia for representing the project at the event, and to the entire team involved in the creation of the multiple games developed within the GameIn framework. This recognition highlights the impact and relevance of inclusive game design research carried out at CICANT.
