FilmEU Summit 2021 was a success

The first FilmEU Summit was held from 21st to 24th September in Lisbon, Portugal. This is a regular event yearly promoted as an occasion to show progress in the development of the project and share results with the broader academic community of the four HEI that integrate FilmEU.

This was an important mark in the project because it was the first summit and the first time the people involved in FilmEU got together in person due to the pandemic.

The summit included an international conference on the “Challenges and Opportunities” of setting up a European University in the field of the Arts which included topics such as “The role of the cultural and creative sectors in the recovery of a post covid Europe” with the presence of Anna Valtonen from Aalto University, Finland and Maria Silvia Gatta from the European Commission.

The Portuguese Secretary of State for Film, Audiovisual and Media Nuno Artur Silva gave a welcoming speech to the topic of “The CCI sector in a post-covid Europe: Future challenges to Academia and the Industry" that was followed by round tables on challenges to the industry, academia and research with distinguished guest speakers such as Nuno Bernardo, Camille Pollie, Gonçalo Galvão Teles, Elen Lotman, Tim Conlon, Anna Heiskanen, Paulo Cunha, Nico Carpentier, Fredo De Smet and Stoffel Debuysere.
