CICANT researcher wins Call to Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus
"Mapping Online Feminisms on Instagram in Portugal" is the project that puts Sofia Caldeira on the winning list and makes her one the few junior researchers to be awarded with an Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus contract promoted by FCT.
Her research project aims to map and analyse the Portuguese landscape of online feminisms, narrowing on the case study of Instagram. It explores four central questions: How is online feminism perceived and represented in mainstream media? How does the Portuguese landscape of feminist hashtags on Instagram look like and what dynamics does it encompass? What conventions and concerns underly the creation of feminist content on Instagram? And how do Portuguese audiences engage with and make sense of feminism on Instagram?
This project proposes an innovative multi-methodological approach to explore different layers of feminist engagement on Instagram.
