Gender and Media: dialogues between theory and practice | CICANT promotes training webinars

On March 29th and 30th, the webinars Gender and Media: dialogues between theory and practice, resulting from a partnership between CICANT/Lusófona University, the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, Centro Protocolar de Formação Profissional para Jornalistas, Sindicato de Jornalistas and by initiative of researchers Carla Cerqueira and Maria José Brites.

About 200 participants attended these two days of training particularly dedicated to journalists and/or communication students, whose main goals were to promote a critical look on stereotyped messages in communication contents, namely journalistic, advertising and/or entertainment contents and to raise awareness on the importance of communication professionals in the deconstruction of gender stereotypes and in the eradication of certain invisibilities, through the production of contents that contribute to the elimination of unequal practices in the media and, consequently, to greater social equity.

With this initiative, CICANT continues to promote training actions that strengthen its connection to the community and the public in the technical areas on which our scientific activity is focused.
