Agents against disinformation - Read Twice capacity building at Porto

Between the 27th and 28th of march, Lusófona University (Porto University Center) welcomed 30 youngsters from Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania to share with them insights and knowledge to increase media literacy and tackle disinformation. The event took place at Centro de Negócios do Bonfim under the motto “Disinformation & Civic engagement - Becoming an agent against disinformation”.

During two days young media practicioners participated in sessions that promoted the acquisition of new knowledge and development of training and professional skills. Porto’s capacity building was planned with the intention of complementing the themes and dynamics explored in Berlin. The first day of the event was mainly devoted to reviews of previously explored subjects concerning information disorder, the presentation of the Portuguese Best Practices mapping, the experience of university journalism as a basis for journalistic practices and digital journalism, creative media production and narrative journalism. On the second day the group had the opportunity to delve into the practices and routines of two reference Portuguese media outlets (Público and Rádio Nova) and put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired in a co-creation session.

After two intense and enriching capacity building events, the young people will return to their home countries to train others and build up media literacy.
