Carla Cerqueira, principal investigator of the FEMglocal - Glocal Feminist Movements: Interactions and Contradictions research project, presented the project on March 28th at CICANT’s room located in the Lusofóna University – Porto University Center. FEMglocal, financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through national funds (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021), aims to investigate the unique characteristics of Portuguese feminisms, as well as how they intersect and interact with glocal feminist movements, with a focus on social mobilization, communication and media visibility strategies.
During the presentation, Carla Cerqueira engaged in a dialogue with Pierre Elgarriaga, an expert in Communication for Development and representative of Com4Dev, a collective of organizations and professionals committed to promoting sustainable development and knowledge-sharing among communication experts. Com4Dev's mission to empower beneficiaries and promote change through communication aligns with FEMglocal's goals of promoting gender equality and increasing awareness of Portugal's feminist heritage.
The event provided a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives, foster international connections, and deepen understanding of the role of communication in sustainable development.
