Maria José Brites and Ana Filipa Oliveira, CICANT researchers, were interviewed for the RTP2 programme E2. The interviews took place during the VI Congress Literacy, Media and Citizenship, between 21 and 22 April.
Maria José Brites approached the acquisition of skills in the digital era, the challenges of consuming quality information, of learning how to detect disinformation and the responsibility of media outlets and producers regarding civic education. The researcher also reinforced the importance of the continuous development of programmes which aim at the empowerment of individuals and which promote collaboration between the various sectors - from academia to civil society.
In turn, Ana Filipa Oliveira addressed the urgency of empowering citizens with media skills to experience and exercise citizenship in an enlightened way, responding to the current challenges arising from new digital technologies, including artificial intelligence.
