The Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra hosted the seminar "Jornalismo de Proximidade e Audiências" ["Proximity Journalism and Audiences"], promoted by the research project MediaTrust.Lab - Regional Media Lab for Civic Trust and Literacy (PTDC/COM-JOR/3866/2020), on 14 June.
Margarida Maneta, research scholar of the project YouNDigital - Youth, News and Citizenship (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021), participated in a session dedicated to the crossing of data collected by the two projects - YouNDigital and MediaTrust.Lab.
The collaboration results from the identification of national news deserts by mediatrust.lab. Based on these data it was considered relevant to understand, from the survey applied by YouNDigital to young people aged between 15 and 24 years old living in Portugal, how - in districts where there is no regional journalism - youth consumes, perceives and imagines the news in the future.
The projects will continue to collaborate and produce new collective knowledge about the field of audiences in Portugal. Researcher Maria José Brites (YouNDigital PI) integrates the mediatrust.lab project team.
