Title: Media literacy of Czech teachers in comparison with media literacy of the public

Abstract: The presentation deals with the issue of media literacy of Czech teachers. The author will present her research proposal, which is part of her dissertation. This research is quantitative and is based on cooperation with the Czech research agency STEM/MARK. The main aim of the proposed research is to measure the level of media literacy of Czech teachers. These results will then be compared with the results obtained from the Czech public. Specifically, the research focuses on the question of whether teachers are more media literate than the public and the university educated part of the public. It is hoped that the results of this research will contribute to the discussion and formulation of strategies that will support more effective media education teaching in university preparation and in-service teacher education.
