Inês Godinho Mendes Viveiros Gil

Inês Mendes Gil is an Associate Professor at ECAATI, Lusófona University where she has taught film and photography since 2000. She worked at the UCLA Film Archive (Los Angeles) from 1994 to 1997 to edit the outtakes of The Night of the Hunter (Charles Laughton -1955) and was coordinator of the Lisbon Photography Archive of the CPF until 2001. After a specialized training in restoration of photography and film at the IFROA School (Paris) between 1989 and 1994, she completed her PhD in Cinema at the University Paris 8 in 2002, with a thesis on the Atmosphere in Cinema published by Gulbenkian Editions in 2005; she finished a post-doctorate in 2010, with an FCT scholarship, on the cinematographic patina and its use in contemporary experimental films. She completed a 2nd post-doc on Time in Contemporary Cinema at the Catholic University of Lisbon in 2015. She also directs documentaries and video installations.
