Carla Martins has a degree and a master's degree in Philosophy from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Communication Sciences, specialising in Media and Journalism, from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon.
Since January 2015, she has been an advisor to the President of the Portuguese Parliament. She is a member of the staff of the Regulatory Authority for the Media as a media analysis specialist.
As a researcher, she has participated in several projects focused on the relationship between media and gender, which resulted in the presentation of national and international papers and the publication of scientific articles on the subject.
