Hugo Barata holds a PhD in Media Art (Lusófona University). He is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University, in Lisbon. He is an artist, independent curator, teacher and education mediator focused on critical anarchives as methodological approaches in crossings between art practice, the curatorial and education.
He has been working as an invited artist and education curator in institutions such as MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, CCB/MCB, Lisbon City Hall – Municipal Direction of Culture and EGEAC, developing different social intervention projects and also formation courses.
