Ana Sofia Pereira is a Post-Doctoral fellow in the research project “FEMglocal – Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions” (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021). In 2020 she completed a European PhD in Communication Sciences (majoring in Cinema, Screenwriting) at the New University of Lisbon, with a stay at the University of Reading, on the lack of women screenwriters and directors in Europe and specifically in Portugal. In that same year, she was one of the winners of the Program to Support the Writing and Development of Audiovisual and Multimedia Content promoted by ICA with the miniseries “Virgínia: Searching for the Lost Film”. Also in 2020, the TV series she co-wrote “2’ Minutes to change your life” (broadcast during prime time in one of Portugal’s major networks, RTP1) was awarded several national and international prizes, such as two Telly Awards, the Audience Vote at the MEDEA awards, the Special Jury Prize at Casa das Ciências, the Ciência Viva Media Award, amongst several other recognitions. Ana Sofia Pereira is a higher education professor, a researcher, a screenwriter and a script-doctor. Her main research interests lie in gender studies, feminism, cinema, digital communication and inclusion.
