I Early Career Scholars Conference
I Early Career Scholars Conference
In contemporary society, there is a fundamental duality between media production and how citizenship depends on interpreting and critically analysing these creative productions. In this sense, research in the area of media and communication is becoming less focused on production or audiences and more engaged in multidisciplinary, including audiences and the creative industries, in all their diversity of characteristics and multiplicity of platforms.
Considering these premises, CICANT's first Early Career Scholars Conference aims to gather papers from people in the early years of their academic career, students or not, who submit papers in one of the following areas (not exclusively):
- Innovations in digital media and art;
- The role of technology in creative industries;
- Interactive media and user experience;
- The impact of artificial intelligence on media arts;
- Virtual and augmented reality in media production;
- Creative economies and new business models;
- Cultural heritage and digital preservation;
- Intellectual property in the digital age;
- Media, inclusion, and gender;
- Sustainable media practices;
- Digital and media literacies;
- Social media and public discourse;
- Media, social norms and behaviours;
- Journalism and contemporary societies;
- Media and identity formation;
- Critical media education and pedagogy;
- Media ethics and representation;
- Global media and cross-cultural communication;
- Media accessibility policies and practices.
The Conference will take place on the 3rd of March 2025 at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário de Lisboa. The event is aimed at CICANT Masters' students, PhD Students and Early Career stage researchers.
