Last Friday, November 17th, the FCT-funded project On & Off held an interim meeting with international advisors Aleena Chia – Goldsmiths College, University of London – and André Jansson – Karlstad University, in Sweden. The team presented the progress in data collection and discussed main strategies for analysis and dissemination. The project, which is divided in four main work packages, is now reaching the end of the data collection phase, which was conducted both on and offline using various methods, such as interviews and ethnographic observations.
As the analysis stage begins, advisors were able to point towards possible approaches to explore the data and find points of connections across work packages. Moreover, potential opportunities for future dissemination were discussed, including the proposal of a book about the research done in the On & Off project.
About the project
On&Off is an exploratory study that seeks to advance digital media scholarship, and to expand the scholarship on the nascent field of digital disconnection to the still underexplored context of Portugal, as most existing research in this area is predicated in Northern European countries.
