Sonia Lamy at Gender Equality and Democratic Participation initiative
On November 22nd, Sónia Lamy, researcher from the FEMglocal - Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions research project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through national funds (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021 / DOI 10.54499/PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021), was invited to participate in the “Igualdade de Género e Participação Democrática” (“Gender Equality and Democratic Participation”) initiative, promoted by the Diáspora Sem Fronteiras (Diáspora Without Borders) Association as part of the AKA Active Citizens project.
At IBN Mucana Secondary School in Cascais, Sónia Lamy presented FEMglocal’s booklet, “History of Feminist Activism in Portugal”, to students, a moment that served as a dynamic catalyst for engaging discussions on gender equality and strategies for active social participation within the national context. Following the insights shared by esteemed guests, students collaborated in groups, rising to the challenge of crafting proposals centered around gender equality. These proposals, reflecting a diversity of perspectives, will be subsequently presented and delivered to politicians in decision-making positions at the project’s final meeting.
