CICANT shares a call for works under the theme of “ERRAR” - a Portuguese term that simultaneously evokes wandering and making mistakes. This initiative explores photography as both wandering and error: movement without a fixed destination, and experimentation through deviation, doubt, and creative misstep. It invites photographers, artists, researchers, and students to submit visual essays, photobooks, and photographic sequences that engage with photography as a practice of exploration, thinking, and transformation.
This call is part of a broader conference programme dedicated to photographic and practice-based research, where selected works will be presented and discussed - in English or Portuguese - in short panels (20 minutes) or longer hands-on sessions (40 minutes to 2 hours). Contributions may include visual, audiovisual, or performative formats, fostering an open space for experimentation and exchange.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Photography, wandering, and exploration of place;
- The photographic essay as a form of thinking;
- Error as method and experimental practice;
- Analog and digital transitions in photographic practice;
- Deviations from photographic conventions;
- Walking as a photographic and perceptual practice.
