Catalogue promotes the preservation of Lérias lace
The catalogue Lérias - A Arte das Linhas (Lérias: The Art of Threads) is the result of a project that gathered CICANT researchers and the Fundão City Council to reflect on the past and the future of the region’s ancient lace technique. The project aimed not only to learn about the technique for creating Lérias lace, but also to unveil future opportunities for reinterpreting the lace and to promote social sustainability by involving elderly women in passing on their knowledge.
CICANT researchers developed and launched the catalog resulting from the two editions of the Lérias training.
The catalog was created with the intention of preserving this Portuguese tradition. The partnership demonstrated that it is possible to combine tradition and innovation with a refined sense of aesthetics. The catalog - a vehicle for the preservation and valorisation of tradition in itself - includes women's clothing, children's clothing, handbags, costume jewelry, other accessories and decorative objects.
