On November 12th, 2024, Lusófona University will host the final conference of the FEM-ABLE project at the Porto University Center’s Sala Nobre. The conference, scheduled from 09:30 to 18:00, will bring together academics, policymakers, and activists to explore the progress made in promoting women's political participation across Europe, as part of the FEM-ABLE initiative.
The event will commence with an Opening Ceremony at 10:00, featuring remarks from José Paulo Oliveira of Lusófona University. This will be followed by a presentation of the Research Results by La Xixa Teatre and the project’s Communication and Dissemination Team.
The morning will also include a session on Experiences from the Field, with the participation of Women Do Business and moderated by Diana Loureiro of Lusófona University, where participants will engage with first-hand experiences of women in politics. In the afternoon, public policy presentations will be delivered by CSI and CESIE, followed by a commentary on the framework of National and European Policies, led by Manuel Albano, Vice-President of the Citizenship and Gender Equality Commission (CIG), with moderation by Carla Cerqueira of Lusófona University.
A Film Session featuring the documentary “50|50” (2022) by director Mafalda Rebelo will take place at 16:30, culminating in a discussion with the filmmaker. The day will conclude with a Closing Session by Sónia Lamy of Lusófona University at 18:00.
This conference marks a significant moment for the FEM-ABLE project, providing a platform for key stakeholders to reflect on achievements and discuss actionable solutions to the barriers women continue to face in political arenas.
