André Barata Explores Landscape and Freedom in "Espaço-Paisagem" at CCB

On November 9, 2024, philosopher André Barata will present Espaço-Paisagem, a discussion on landscape as a transformative space for freedom, at Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) in Lisbon. Organized as part of the "Outros Espaços" series by CCB, ECATI, and CICANT, this event delves into how landscapes can interrupt functionalized, commodified spaces, reconnecting us to natural rhythms and fostering political and relational meaning.

Barata, a Professor at the University of Beira Interior, brings a philosophical perspective on the intersections of time, space, and freedom. His work, including the recent trilogy on human experience and temporality, underscores how landscapes can challenge modern abstraction by offering spaces for genuine interaction.

This year's Outros Espaços theme, As Margens da Liberdade, marks the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, examining how arts and cultural expressions expand freedom even in restricted spaces.
