Media & Jornalismo Publishes Special Issue on Youth and Digital Citizenship Contexts

The journal Media & Jornalismo has released an issue focusing on youth and digital citizenship contexts. The issue is edited by Maria José Brites and Teresa Sofia Castro, researchers of the CICANT and YouNDigital project, and Paloma Contreras-Pulido from the International University of La Rioja.

Titled Youth Perspectives on the Surrounding World and Digital Citizenship Contexts, the issue compiles articles covering diverse topics and geographic regions. The editors open the issue with an introductory article, "Youth Perspectives on the Surrounding World and Digital Citizenship Contexts", presenting critical reflections on the challenges journalism and the digital news ecosystem face today, emphasizing the importance of understanding youth expectations and interests in media.

This initiative is supported by the YouNDigital project (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021), the i-Tech Families project (PTDC/COM-2022.00105.CEECIND/CP1760/CT0001), and collaborations with ECREA’s Audiences and Reception Studies and Children, Youth, and Media sections, as well as SOPCOM’s Publics and Audiences Working Group.
