The International Journal of Games and Social Impact (IJGSI) has released its latest edition, continuing its mission as a semiannual open-access publication dedicated to games research and critique on social change, inclusion, education, and Human Rights. Established at Lusófona University, IJGSI aims to bridge the gap between academic game studies and civil society through educational and knowledge exchanges.
Supported by the HEI-Lab and CICANT research units, the journal fosters multidisciplinary, fundamental, and applied research at the intersections of games and human activities. This strategic collaboration strengthens the academic and practical understanding of games as powerful tools for societal transformation.
This latest edition features a collection of papers presented at the Leiriatalks, held on March 16, 2024, during LeiriaCon. These contributions delve into the challenges of designing and creating games for contemporary societies, offering fresh perspectives on the evolving role of games in social and cultural contexts.
