The Research Centre for Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies (CICANT) will mark its 20th anniversary with a comprehensive 2-day event on October 6-7 exploring the future of media, literacies, and arts research.
The event, titled "Mobilising the future: a scoping exercise on media, literacies and the arts," will take place at Lusófona University, bringing together researchers, External Advisory Board (EAB) members, and PhD students.
The first day will focus on institutional development, featuring presentations of CICANT's General Activity Plan and Strategic Guidelines for 2025-2029, alongside showcases of the centre's researchers, laboratories, and research lines (ReLeCos). A social reception will conclude the day.
October 7th will feature an interactive World Café discussion, followed by sessions with the External Advisory Board and researchers. The conference will end with the CICANT Awards ceremony, which will recognise past achievements and future potential in the field.
The anniversary celebration underscores CICANT's two decades of contribution to communication, culture, and technology research, while establishing priorities for future academic work in a changing digital environment.
