On September 22–23, 2025, Freie Universität Berlin hosted the international workshop of ECREA’s Philosophy of Communication Section: Dialogue as Community Building and as Philosophical Method.
The event gathered European experts to reflect on the role of dialogue as a philosophical practice and as an essential condition for democratic renewal in contexts marked by digital fragmentation and social polarization.
CICANT stood out as the research center with the largest scientific representation at the meeting, through the participation of José Gomes Pinto, Manuel Bogalheiro, João Carrilho, Alexander Gerner, and Joana Bicacro. This strong presence positioned CICANT as the largest group from a single institution, reinforcing the visibility and relevance of Portuguese research in the philosophy of communication.
