2nd edition of the Summer School of African Studies in Portuguese announced for 2026

The 2nd Summer School of African Studies in Portuguese will take place from 29 June to 3 July 2026, bringing together scholars, students, and researchers to reflect on Afro-descendants and African identities in post-colonial democracies.

The programme will be hosted across three locations: Lusófona University - the University Centre of Porto and Lisbon, and the DST Museum.

Coordinated by Sheila Khan, Lurdes Macedo, and Margarida Rendeiro, the Summer School builds on the success of its first edition in 2025 and continues the work developed within the Permanent Forum for African Studies in Portuguese, established in November 2025.

This initiative reinforces interdisciplinary dialogue on post-colonial democracies, African diasporas, and cultural identities in the Lusophone world.
