Lusófona University hosts conference Youth Citizenship, Intergenerationality and Digital Narratives

Universidade Lusófona – Porto University Centre will host the STORYline National Conference – Youth Citizenship, Intergenerationality and Digital Narratives on 19 November 2026. Organised under the STORYline project (10.54499/2023.11571.PEX), with the support of CICANT and funding from the FCT, the event aims to be a space for sharing and dialogue between academia and the community on the challenges of intergenerational citizenship in contemporary Portugal, at a time when population ageing and the role of digital media make it ever more urgent to consider relations between generations.

The conference also launches a call for papers, open to researchers, undergraduate, master's and doctoral students, teachers, youth workers, NGO members and all those interested in the topics. Proposals for papers may address themes such as (digital) youth citizenship, young people's experiences and perspectives, the challenges of digital spheres (including inequalities, echo chambers, discrimination, and stereotypes), pedagogical experiences of civic participation, and intergenerational community experiences. Theoretical, empirical, pedagogical, community-based and professional approaches are all welcome.

Submissions in Portuguese must be made via the dedicated form available at this link, in anonymised form, with an abstract of up to 300 words and a maximum of five keywords, by 29 July 2026 (extended deadline). Results will be communicated on 25 September 2026, and registration for the event must be completed by 25 October 2026.

Participation is in person and free of charge, with compulsory registration, and the programme will also include workshops aimed at teachers, youth workers and community professionals. Further information on event accreditation will be made available shortly.
