Lisbon, Portugal — 10–11 October 2025

Margarida Maneta, PhD student at Lusófona University and member of the YouNDigital project, participated in the second edition of MediaCon – “Encontros com o Jornalismo”, held in Lisbon under the theme “The Journalism We Want”. As part of the panel “Media Literacy in a Post-Fact-Checking World”, Maneta presented insights from the YouNDigital research and shared her experience teaching and training young people and adults in Media and Information Literacy (MIL) across Portugal.

Her participation highlighted the importance of critical media literacy in promoting informed citizenship and strengthening democratic resilience in the digital age.

The two-day event, hosted in Portugal, aimed to reflect on the evolving role of journalism in the context of disinformation. Its diverse programme included debates, conversations, and masterclasses on cultural criticism, cross-border journalism, and science communication, as well as a Pecha Kucha session and a media fair open to the public.
