A special issue of the Journal of Creative Communications dedicated to "Citizens' Perceptions of Media and Democracy across Europe" has just been published, featuring research developed within the MeDeMAP – Mapping Media for Future Democracies project.
The special issue brings together contributions from researchers across Europe who examine how citizens perceive media systems, democratic institutions, trust, and political participation in contemporary information environments. Drawing on empirical research conducted in several European countries, the collection offers a comparative perspective on the evolving relationship between media and democracy.
Among the published articles is "Journalists and Audiences in Portugal: Dissonant Perceptions", co-authored by Nuno Cintra Torres, Tatiana Chervykova, and Manuel José Damásio, presenting findings from the Portuguese case study conducted within the MeDeMAP project.
The thematic dossier also includes studies on Slovenia, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, and Estonia, as well as broader European perspectives on democracy and societal environments.
The special issue is now available in open access and can be read in full here.
