“Climate Theatre and Ecodramaturgy in the Anthropocene” presented at FOLIO Literary Festival in Óbidos

The FOLIO – International Literary Festival of Óbidos concluded on 19 October 2025 with the launch of the book “Climate Theatre and Ecodramaturgy in the Anthropocene”, edited by Graça P. Corrêa and Alexander Matthias Gerner (ECATI, CICANT, Lusófona University) and published by Caleidoscópio. The event, held in the Casa de Chocolate debate room, explored the festival’s theme, “Borders,” by examining the intersections between art, science, and ecological awareness.

The session brought together the editors and contributors Cláudia Madeira, Raquel Rodrigues, Rui Pina Coelho, and Soledad Figueroa Rodriguez, who discussed the role of theatre and ecodramaturgy in addressing the climate crisis. The book includes significant contributions from CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies, with Alexander Gerner authoring “Scenes from the Climate Theatre” and João Marques Carilho contributing “Cry of this Earth”, a reflection on the relationship between climate change and the Earth’s acoustic environment.

With 222 pages (ISBN: 978-989-658-909-7), the volume gathers contributions from international artists, philosophers, and scientists, establishing itself as a key reference for understanding the role of the performing arts in the age of the Anthropocene.
