Lusófona University - Lisbon University Center will host the "Cinematography of Today" international conference. The event takes place from June 24-26, 2026, bringing together scholars, educators, and practitioners to examine the evolving landscape of contemporary cinematography.
The three-day event aims to bridge academic research and professional practice by examining how digital innovation, immersive technologies, and artificial intelligence are transforming the art of image-making. Conference organisers are seeking proposals for academic papers, practice-based research, case studies, and roundtable discussions across four main areas: cinematography as art and practice; technology and innovation; education and ethics; and historical research.
Topics include the cinematographer's authorial role and collaborative dynamics with directors, sustainable production practices, AI ethics, and diversity in film education. The conference also welcomes discussions on virtual production, LED studios, colour science, and the preservation of analogue processes.
The full call for papers is available here.
