Last 4th and 5th of December, the Portuguese Society of Videogames Sciences (SPCV) held the 15th International Conference on Videogame Sciences and Arts - Videojogos'25 at IPMaia.
CICANT was strongly represented with two presented papers. First, a paper emerging from a collaboration in a broader international study coordinated by Mustafa Can Gursesli from the Research Center of Gameful Realities in Tampere University. The paper "Video Games as Mirrors, Refuges, and Stages: A Reflexive Thematic Analysis of Self-Image in the Digital Era" was presented by CICANT researcher Carla Sousa, having also has co-authors Ana Filipa Oliveira and Amanda Cei Santos Pirola.
Secondly, the paper "Gamification in Media Education: Systematic Literature Review and Implications for Platform Design" was presented by Catarina Regra (student at EPCV), authored by Ana Filipa Oliveira, Ana Lamy, and Carla Sousa (from CICANT) and Viviana Fernandes (from EPCV). The papers will soon be published in Communications in Computer and Information Science series by Springer.
Moreover, three games from GameIN project (10.54499/2022.07939.PTDC) were showcased: Blind Order, Monster Detective, and Monster Lab, with the later winning the best game award in this event.
