FilmEU Imagination Challenge 2026: call for student innovators

The FilmEU Imagination Challenge 2026 is now open, inviting students from across the FilmEU European University Alliance to rethink how cinema connects with audiences. The challenge encourages participants from communication, design, technology, education, the arts, or any other field to design innovative film experiences that engage communities often overlooked or underserved.

The challenge

Participants will work in international and interdisciplinary teams to create an original film event tailored to a specific audience. The goal is to explore new ways of making film experiences more meaningful, engaging, and accessible.

Why participate?

Taking part in the FilmEU Imagination Challenge offers the opportunity to:

  • collaborate internationally with students from across the FilmEU Alliance;

  • develop an original project that explores new ways of connecting films with audiences;

  • receive mentorship from academics and professionals from the creative industries;

  • present your idea in Dublin at the FilmEU Industry Summit if your team is selected.

For selected participants, travel and accommodation in Dublin will be fully covered.

How to apply

Applications are open until 23 September 2026. For more information about the challenge and the application process, consult the full call here.
