Healing Nature: CICANT project installed Augmented Reality mural in pediatric hospital

On December 18th, the Healing Nature project installed three SCREENless animated murals in Hospital Dona Estefânia. The goal was to tackle the lack of interactive works in hospital waiting rooms, offering patients an interactive experience through augmented reality with the aim of providing a calming and distracting element to children's hospital waiting spaces, reducing patient anxiety, and supporting the mental, physical, and spiritual health of the hospital community. The murals are located in Waiting Room B - The Multipurpose Paediatric Emergency Room, Immunology and Allergology Waiting Room B, and Clinical Analysis Laboratory Waiting Room.

The Healing Nature project is a European initiative funded by the Creative Europe programme and implemented by HDLU (Croatia), Lusófona University/Cofac (Portugal), and NBU – New Bulgarian University (Bulgaria). Each mural was designed by one of the three universities, depicting natural and relaxing environments. Natalie Woolf (CICANT) is the leading researcher and Art Director for the Lisbon team, working alongside Pedro Serrazina, the Animation Director and researcher, and with psychology partners Ana Beato, Ana Loureiro, and Isabel Santos from HEI-Lab.
